Blacks were treated bad in the 1930's because they were not of the same race as the whites, so they thought they shouldn't be treated the same.
In the 1930's the colored people were treated badly because back then the "white" people didn't think "Black" people were just as equal to them. They didn't feel as though "blacks" were equal enough to be treated the same. That's why back then there were separate resturaunts, separate schools, separate bathrooms, separate water fountains, etc
There are various reasons as to why African American people were treated badly. First off, they were treated as slaves, and property because that is how the white people saw them, and raised their children to see them. They were not thought to be equals, but thought of as less than human.
Black people had no respect from white folk and that was very wrong. Some things were that black people had to go to separate schools, they had to stand at the back of the bus, they had separate water fountains called "coloured fountain" and "black water fountain" for the black people the water wouldn't be really clean. This was all very cruel and Martin Luther King Jr. stopped it peacefully by protesting against it.
As hard as it was to get a job and keep it during the depression, it was even harder for African Americans. Some were able to get jobs in federal programs in Northern cities.
They felt bad about how they treated one another, so each and every day at least 15 people changed the way they treated blacks.
The blacks were treated very badly. They had to stay in a whole other community than the whites. The blacks had to stay in home lands and the home lands were really bad. The blacks had to share every thing they had with the other blacks in the home lands. If the blacks worked for a white the black had to go miles to get to the white and the black had to have like a passport thing to go to the whites house.
bad
Bad in the Confederacy but not bad in the Union. In fact, the Union liberated many blacks and used black soldiers.

No, Blacks were still poor and treated bad
Blacks were not treated well even after the emancipation proclimation whites still treated blacks bad. Seperating them from everything they do and sometimes not aloowing blacks certain places or allowing them to do certain things. Blacks were basically cut off from the American lifestyle for a long time.
