Best Answer

Dodo birds became extinct because they were flightless and couldn't move very quick. They were hunted and killed by many animals, including humans, until they were finally extinct.

they were hunted some didn't have enough food to fend themselves off and climates changed in some places, just like every other animal that's about to be extinct like the panda :(

The dodo was not discovered on the Indian ocean island of Mauritius until about the 1590s. It was a bird that had no fear of humans, having not encountered them before, so it was easy for sailors to catch and eat, even though most reports of the meat were that it was tough and sometimes unpalatable (usually due to cooking it for too long). It was a flightless bird, and quite heavy - around 20 kg, so it was not believed to be a fast-moving bird, although scientists differ in opinion on this. This meant it lacked the ability to escape terrestrial predators.

When humans settled permanently on Mauritius, they cleared native dodo habitat, destroying nesting grounds. They also introduced various new species, all of which were a threat to the dodo. Dogs and pigs killed the birds; cats and preyed on the young chicks; and Crab-eating Macaques were introduced from Asia - these ate the eggs of the dodo.

The dodo bird became extinct because it was adapted to an ecosystem that had few predators. When humans began development on their island (Mauritius), the birds were rapidly decimated by hunting and by new predators (dogs, rats). In less than 80 years, their entire population was gone.

It became extinct in the mid to late 17th century. A lot of people say they were eaten by humans but this is false. It is true when sailors first came across them they did catch and eat them but the dodo meat was said to be very tough and fatty. The true reason they became extinct is that the sailors let loose pigs on the island and with the dodo being a flightless bird it built its nest on the ground and the pigs ate the eggs so the dodo could not multiply no more.

The Dodo bird became extinct because it was a tasty dish, and the Dodo could not fly.

It was hunted to extinction.

The introduction of dogs, cats and rats on the island proved too much for the flightless, slow moving bird. The presence of industrial man probably didn't help either. They were not used to the presence of predators greater than themselves.

Humans introduced dogs and other species into their habitat; these animals ate their eggs and young and, in addition to the hunting undertaken by humans, we all killed them by hunting.

Humans were responsible for the extinction of the dodo. They were hunted for food and sport, proving to be easy prey as they were slow and had no fear of people. Pigs, cats, and rats, introduced to the island by sailing ships, helped in their destruction by feeding on their eggs and chicks. Dodo birds were mistakenly thought to be stupid, but in reality they were simply unable to adapt to the introduction of so many new hazards at once.

Humans destroyed their habitat, and they were easy prey. They had very few natural enemies or predators.

The Dodos became extinct because hunters killed them and Dodos can't run fast either. The Dodos are naturally a fat bird.
