I'm pretty sure it's just similar sound.. :) There is absolutely no connection between Australia and the Wizard of Oz. However, in 1992, Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating was dubbed "The Lizard of Oz" after he put his arm around Queen Elizabeth II on her visit to Australia.
