Best Answer

They feel as though people should not have tattoos because the ink goes into your skin and blood, they believe people should not dirty their own blood with tattoos, drugs and so on.

Answer:

There is no consistent position on tattoos. Each sect can have its own tradition. Many sects have a long standing tradition of tattoos.

The problems might arise over the attachment for a body decoration or the pride in showing off your Buddhism-ness.

If the tattoo is an aide-memoire to remind you of your purpose in living a better life it might be an affirming gesture.
