Some come about when people strip the natural vegetation from an area. Some result when people remove the little amount of water that exists. This wrecks the level of ground moisture. It reduces the humidity making it more difficult for plants to grow. It reduces the transpiration. It increases the albedo. Thus, people are creating deserts.
