They are the channels by which molecules enter in facilitated diffusion.
If there's a transfer protein then its NOT diffusion ... its active transport.
passive. any transport that is diffusion to get into a cell is passive.
Carrier proteins can use active or passive transport depending on what type of carrier protein it is (meaning what the protein transports). The form of passive transport that they use is facilitated diffusion. An example of active transport is the Sodium Potassium pump. Active transport requires ATP. Facilitated diffusion is used to transport polar molecules and ions that cannot directly cross the cell membrane. Facilitated diffusion doesn't require energy.
Diffusion is the movement of molecules from areas of high concentration to areas of low concentration and active transport is the movement of molecules from an area of low concentration to an area of high concentration

two processes requiring the use of protein carrier molecules?

Facilitated diffusion is passive transport as no energy is used, and a protein channel is all that's required. After that it is simple diffusion down a concentration gradient. Anything with the word diffusion in it is passive transport. Diffusion is just the principle of passive transport.
Active transport requires more energy than diffusion this is because during active transport, the molecules are being transported against and toward the concentration gradient whereas in diffusion, the molecules go from the concentration gradient.
Active transport
it moves by diffusion, osmosis and active transport
active transport is different from diffusion. active transport has to do with the movement of chemical substance through a gradient of concentration. diffusion has to do with requiring the expenditure of energy
Facilitated diffusion is a type of passive transport (does not require energy). It is called facilitated diffusion because it utilises the carrier protein to diffuse through it. Active transport requires energy to pump certain big molecules to cross over and this uses transport protein. Basically, the difference is just the usage of energy.
