There should be 2 screws opposite each other on sides of cap. They latch it onto housing. Just push them down-(they have small springs) & turn 1/4, then they will pop up. Remember which side is the front & if you pull wires, mark #1 terminal & make sure you know firing order. If need be, you can follow wires from #1 around cap & this will tell you.
on this old distributor there is a cap that holds the wires in place on the distributor. Is there a trick to remove top cap?
Ist is a simple process. Simply remove the vacuum line to the advance mechanism, then remove the bolt that hold it down to the block. (Just to the left) Then lift the distributor from the engine. (Carefully allow the distributor to rotate a bit as you pull straight out.)
no
AnswerThe sensor is located in the distributor on the rear of the engine. The distributor has to be pulled to be able to remove the sensor.
how do you remove and replace the distributor cap on a 97 chevy cavalier?. I can not get to it.
Yes you do. You have to take the distributor shaft out of the distributor to Remove the pick-up coil / stator.
To remove the distributor on your Chevy Celebrity 2.5L 4 cylinder engine: 1, Set the timing to the number one cylinder in the firing position. 2. Remove the distributor cap and put out of the way. If you take out any of the spark plug wires make note of where to put them back. 3. Loosen and remove the retainer clamp and its bolt. 4. Pull the distributor out of the block. To reinstall the distributor reverse the instructions. You will need to re-time the engine when you put the distributor back in.
No, it has coil packs, there is no distributor.
The 2.2L engine doesn't have a distributor.
it does not have a distributor , it has coil packs
The oil pressure switch on a 4.3 engine is located on top of engine block, way in back next to the firewall, under the distributor. I would remove the distributor to gain access to it..
There is no distributor cap on that engine because there is no distributor. It has a distributor-less ignition system. The spark plug wires go directly to a coil pack with an ignition module mounted on the lower passenger side of the engine. It is best reached from under the vehicle.
