To connect a Bluetooth device to a Mac you need to ensure that Bluetooth is turned on in the Mac's System Preferences and that it is Discoverable. Bluetooth devices should then find the Mac by its name and pair with it.
THere should be an option to ask the Mac to scan for available bluetooth devices (windows has that option). Once the Mac re-discovers the device, you can access it again.
If the phone has Bluetooth you can use that with a recent Mac. You need to turn on Bluetooth in the Mac's System preferences and then pair the phone with the Mac.
Find the MAC address of your Ethernet or Bluetooth device and visit a site which will lookup the associated vendor. Enter in the alphanumeric letters associated with the vendor.
