You should first look up what are your state laws for minor's legal age to work. I do know that it is 16 years old in California. However, keep in mind, there are laws where a minor can only work a few hours and have a curfew on school days. On weekends, you maybe can work a longer shift.
If your state allows 14 year olds to work, you should have your teen apply for the job themselves, such as physically come into businesses or at least call. If you are a parent, don't come in to ask for your kid to get a job, no offense, it just looks bad.
