How do you beat vanilles eidolon in final fantasy 13?

The battles against the summons are battles to impress them. Use Libra to see what impresses them. Once you know do what you need to until the button appears on the right side of the screen that asks you to press square (Gestault mode I believe). This then means that you have earned their approval. This will continue to be the case, and these battles can be tricky and take many tries.

Vanille's eidolon is beaten by debuffing it using the saboteur paradigm.

So...... have Fang be a sentinal and block damage and soak up attacks.

Switch VAnille to a medic when necessary to heal your team.

characters to use - Lightning, Vanille, and Hope.

equip - on lightning, anything to increase strength. on vanille anything to increase hp. and on hope anything to increase magic.

before battle - use a fortisol and an aegisole. make sure your tp is full.

paradigm shifts to have - com, med, rav

com, rav, rav

rav, rav, rav

med, med, med

in battle - take out the heads first. to do this use com rav rav, and com med rav when in need to heal. you will have all the stat buffs from the fortisol and aegisol, so you shouldn't need to heal that much. After all the heads are gone, he will start attacking you himself. use com rav rav and com med rav just as you did the heads, until he starts charging his destrudo. while he is charging his destrudo switch to rav rav rav and use magic on him until you hear a low moan. that will lower the damage done by a lot. once the attack is over, switch to med med med to quickly heal, and repeat the process. If you don't beat him in a certain amount of time, he will eventually cast doom on you. if you have him at low enough hp, summon odin to get some good damage on him. it will pause the doom count and you should be able to get some damage done. hope this helps :)
