The "chin" fairing is bolted to the frame. Remove it first. As I recall, the "chin" fairing was attached to a bracket at the bottom of the radiator housing. It was connected to a bayonet at the bottom rear of the fairing. It slid onto this, with a rubber grommet to hold it in place.

Run the engine to warm the oil. You will need a set of metric Allen keys (should be included in the stock tool kit). Shut off the engine. Position the collecting pan under the drain. Loosen the oil plug. Drain the oil. Refit the oil drain plug (tighten to the specified torque).

The oil filter is inside of the oil pan assembly. Remove the oil filter cover. Remove the old filter. Fit the new filter in place. Inspect the cover gasket. If necessary (or if one is provided with the filter) remove the old and replace with the new. Tighten the oil filter cover retaining bolts (to the specified torque). Fill to the specified oil quantity (found in the owner's handbook), using BMW factory oil, or synthetic equivallent. The filler cap is located on the rear right side of the engine cover.

Run the engine to inspect for leaks. After the engine cools, refit the "chin" fairing.

Godspeed.
