# Check the level of the Transmission Fluid with the engine idling and the transmission in Park. # The transmission dipstick is marked with a max and min level. # The fluid level should be between these marks. # If it is low, top up the fluid (through the dipstick tube) to the max level (bottles of transmission fluid have an 'anteater' spout to make this easy).
# If the fluid is a dark brown or black colour you should organise getting it changed and replaced with fresh fluid; this will greatly extend the life of the transmission. # Fluid in good condition should be ruby red.
On a standard tranny there is no reservoir. On an automatic tranny it is internal to the tranny. The fluid resides in the transmission pan.
Sometimes Sometimes
Power steering fluid or Automatic transmission fluid
the automatic transmission don't need the fluid to be changed never if you change the fluid with a new one you going to lost your transmission
Yeah try changing it yourself.. the pan needs to be removed to get to the fluid, you have to unbolt it off, then pour it out, and refill it then rebolt... its insane... hello, I have a '97 Golf w/automatic transmission and there is no user friendly way to do this. I called a VW dealer and was told that it has to be hooked up to a machine for transmission fluid service at a cost of 70+ dollars an hour. On my car there is no filler plugs or dipstick and as your car is a later model than mine you are probably in the same boat. Sorry.....
The 2000 VW Golf transmission can be filled through the transmission dipstick tube. Using a funnel is recommended, to limit spilling.
The manual on my 1997 says take it to the dealer. My mechanic said that's because you need a special tool to access the transmission since there is no dipstick to check it. If you have a manual transmission, look at the part of the transmission facing the front of the car and there should be a hex bolt that requires a 17mm hex socket. That is how you check and fill your transmission. To drain it look for the same type of bolt on the bottom side of the transmission.
Check the fluid level & pump belt.
To check or change the differential fluid in a 1989 Club Car golf car you will need to remove the oil cover. Unscrew the bolts and brass fitting.
The 2005 VW Golf Transmission (automatic at least) is a sealed system, and is designed to be sealed for life. If you do need to add fluid, you need to open up the transmission. Unless you have experience working on a transmission, I'd take it into the shop. Cost should be around ~$400 (Canadian) <><><><><> If it is designed to be sealed for life, then just adding fluid would not be a good idea because you also need to fix what's leaking, hence the recommendation to take it to a shop.
there isn't one, instead there is a cap near the front which can be difficult to remove. Because most Volkswagon tranmissions are issued with a check up free trans, which requires no maintenanence.
