You did not say whether your Ruger is a Mk I, II, or III, but the answer to all is: 1. Contact Ruger through their website, and request an owner's manual. They are free. There is a trick to the final re-assembly that the book covers. 2. Get a basic cleaning kit, including a cleaning rod, 22 brush, patch holder, cleaning solvent and patches. You can get one at any gun shop, or the sporting goods dept of the various *Mart stores. 3. Step one of cleaning is ALWAYS check to see that the firearm is unloaded.
