HDMI cables are used as digital video and data links between video sources and televisions. HDMI is compatible with DVI interfaces so if the laptop has a DVI output, a DVI to HDMI cable can be used.
If the laptop does not have HDMI or DVI, then there is no way to connect the VGA output to an HDMI input. There are several USB based video displays that can be purchased to connect to the laptop. The display can be used as a copy of the internal screen or it can extend the desktop across both screens. Select a display port that has either DVI or HDMI outputs.
You don't the laptop HDMI is to connect to a HDTV and so is the PS3 HDMI. Even if you plugged both into the HDTV you would not get a connection between them. The laptop may also be able to connect with a camera using the HDMI and it is the PS3 that I based the answer on. I really don't know if you could connect a PS3 to a laptop that was also a media center with TV or HDTV. I do know that the HDMI can not be used to get the PS3 an Online connection and it can only be connected with WiFi or an Ethernet cable
VGA to HDMI won't happen unfortunately. VGA is an analog signal whereas HDMI is digital. There is no VGA to HDMI connector that supports the conversion.
Note that DVI is both digital and analog. The digital signal is compatible with HDMI and the analog signal is compatible with VGA. That means that it is possible to obtain a VGA to DVI cable and a DVI to HDMI cable. When connected together, there will be a VGA connector at one end and HDMI at the other. Don't bother to try it though. Analog signals won't ever make it to the HDMI connector.
Most televisions have a component video input which will often handle RGB signals. As VGA is an RGB signal, this may well be the best solution. The instruction manual will tell you if VGA can be accepted.
If the television can't take VGA directly, then consider a USB video card. They are available with DVI or HDMI outputs as well as VGA.
There is no difference in the picture quality. You simply need to purchase the cable for the application that you have. If you have a normal Blu-Ray, HDTV and Cable or Satellite HD receiver, a HDMI 1.3 cable is the right type. For 3D televisions, purchase a 1.4 cable.
Yes and No.If I understand the question correctly, you want to connect your cable box to your HDTV via HDMI, your DVR via component cable (Red, Green and Blue RCA connectors), and your VCR via component cables. Your HDTV should accept various video inputs - HDMI, component, and composite (the yellow RCA connector). Most argue that the HDMI connection will provide the best quality video. Next in quality is component video. Last is composite video. Your cable box may or may not have an HDMI connection. If it does and you subcribe to HD channels from your cable provider, then definitely use HDMI to connect to the cable box. If you have another HDMI input available on your TV, then connect it to the DVR (if the DVR has the HDMI output). Your VCR will likely have to be connected via composite cable. It's a crappy signal but VCR don't provide a great signal to begin with. Most VCRs only offer a composite (at best) output, anyway.
For your PS3 connection you need WiFi or an ethernet cable that is connected to the internet. The HDMI cable only connects the PS3 to the HDTV and will not provide the internet connection.
In order to connect a PS3 to a HDTV you need either component cables or and HDMI cable. You have to make sure your TV has either one of these connections. The component cables are blue, green, and red for video, red and white for audio. The HDMI cable is a D shaped looking cable that provides video and audio with a single cable. HDMI looks nothing like component or composite cables. Of course you also need an HDTV.
The coaxial RF input on a HDTV will process a HD signal but it is not an HDMI input.
Yes, you can connect a PS3 to an HDTV by a component cable or an HDMI cable.
To connect the PS3 to a HDTV you need an HDMI cable if your HDTV has an HDMI connection, if it doesn't you need a PS3 component cable.
HDMI cables are used to connect camcorders to hdtv.
You don't. You either connect the PS3 to your HDTV with HDMI and the Comcast box to your HDTV with HDMI cables like I used to have or you connect the PS3 and Comcast Box with HDMI cables like I did to my home theater and then connect the home theater to the HDTV with a HDMI cable. My Comcast box is HD and I have a Sony HDTV and Sony Home Theater equipped with a HDMI repeater. If you are talking about connection for the internet it is not done with a HDMI cable, but an ethernet cable
The HDMI connection on the laptop is for the same purpose as the connection on the PS3. They are both used to connect and allow the device content to be shown on an HDTV
To get your PS3 to output in 720P you will need an HDMI cable and an HDTV. Connect your PS3 to the HDTV using the HDMI cable. After you connect the PS3 to the HDTV go to options and then output setting and choose to output in 720p.
I plugged the HDMI cable into the HDTV and into the PS3. Then I went to the settings for both the HDTV and the PS3 slim and set them for HDMI and sync. When it works right putting a disc into the PS3 will turn on the HDTV and also switch the HDTV over to that HDMI input rather than a cable box or similar item even if it was on the cable box when you last used the HDTV.
You plug one end of the HDMI cable into the PS3 and the other into the HDTV
No you need a blu ray player in your laptop. If your laptop has an HDMI output and a Blu Ray player then the HDMI cable will allow you to play your laptop Blu-ray disc using the HDTV instead of your laptop screen and sound
The PlayStation 3 comes with an A/V Cable for non HDTV reception. If your HDTV has only Component connections then you should purchased the PS3 component cable, otherwise purchase the HDMI cable. The component cable has a number of plugs which must be connected to the HDTV and the HDMI has only a single plug so is the preferred method to connect the PS3 to the HDTV.
Connect the A/V cord that come with it to a TV or purchase a HDMI cable to connect to a HDTV and plug it in first
In order for the PS3 to work best on a HDTV you need to have or purchase either an HDMI or a component AV cable and connect the PS3 to the HDTV. The PS3 will play on a HDTV when it is connected with the AV cable that was provided, but it will not be in HD
