How do you defeat the Phoenix birds on Astro Knights Island?

Pick up the Laser Lance just below your ship, and climb back up the plants. Jump across the Phoenix eggs to reach Pegasus, the flying unicorn.

Mounted on Pegasus, fire the Laser Lance in short bursts to zap the smaller birds, or hold it longer for a more powerful shot* to knock out the red birds. Avoid the lightning and collision with the birds, which drain your health.

*When shooting at the Red Birds and the Mother Phoenix, you hold your mouse for a few seconds. When you let it go, it will fire a stronger shot. Shoot the Mother Phoenix three times (in the head) to destroy it. You cannot shoot when it comes behind you, so Dodge to the top or bottom.

Pick up the Laser Lance from below the landing pad, then climb back up and go right. Climb across the Phoenix Eggs by jumping toward them when they are open.

*To defeat the Red Birds and the Mother Phoenix, you hold your mouse for a few seconds, and when you let it go, it fires a more powerful shot. Hit the Mother phoenix three times (in the head) and dodge if she comes at you from behind.

First, you have to shoot the SUPER-CHARGED laser from the lance (In order to do this you have to hold down your mouse!!!). Next, you'll be able to jump on the pheonix and ride around on it. It will give you something. Then, move to the fire planet.
