You click the little X on the tab.
There is also a shortcut for closing a tab.
It is ctrl + w
This shortcut really works
Clicking a tab does not close it anyway. It can be closed by clicking on thee right of the tab on the cross sign.
Log out and then close the tab. If you'd rather stay logged in simply close the tab!
You can always close an unwanted tab if you want to. The close or X symbol at the right of each tab title can do that.
Place the mouse pointer over the [x] sign in the tab and click. Or if you are in the tab you want to close, press Ctrl+W Or Use your middle mouse button Mouse over the tab you want to close and press the middle mouse button.
Close the Tab
When you work with Header and Footer, Design tab is active, click on Design tab and on right side you will see Close Header and Footer.
you don't just close the tab.
You can right click a tab and select Close other tabs; that leaves just one tab open. However, the quickest way is to press Ctrl+W - that will close the current tab - repeatedly until only one is left open.
press alt+tab
Right-click on its icon in the taskbar, and click "close". If it's in a separate tab in an open window, click the x on the tab itself without switching over.
Tools --> Internet Options --> Tabs - Settings --> Check the box "Warn Me When Closing Multiple Tabs" --> OK
You can press Alt + F4 to close the whole window. You can also press Control + W to close a tab.
