Tossing a ball up repeatedly will do the trick. It will fall. You can catch it when it comes down and toss it back up. It won't not come back down. Gravity has a firm hold on it, and it won't let go.

Gravity has never been detected. It remains one of the mysteries of physics because no wave or particle has ever been detected, but all indications are that it must exist. One of the reasons that is is not detectable is because it is like a quiet pond where all the water is still, because everything is in such close balance in the Universe. If you drop a pebble in the pond, you will see the pebble and the ripples. Scientists have not yet been able to see a 'pebble' or 'ripple' in the pond that is called the force of gravity; one of the four basic forces in the universe along with the weak force, the strong force, and the electromagnetic force. ya know what, i think you can detect it. hold up an apple and let go. if it falls, there is gravity

Gravity is always measured in interaction between two masses, for it must act between two masses (it pulls two objects together). If you only have one object, there is no gravitational force. You will see why if you put a 0 as one of the two masses in the formula.

The formula for calculating gravitational force is:

F = G(m1m2) / r2

- G is the gravitational constant, a very small number representing the strength of gravity; as far as we know, this should always be 6.67 * 10-11 in anything you are calculating.

- r is the distance between the centres of the masses.

- m1 is the mass (in kilograms) of the first object, and m2 is the mass of the second.

This will give you F, the force of gravity in Newtons.

Here's what you would do with calculating the gravity between a 100kg object on Earth and the Earth itself:

G = 6.67 * 10-11

m1 (this will be the 100kg person) = 100kg

m2 (earth, of course) = 5.97219 * 1024

r (pretty much the radius of Earth; we can consider this object on the surface) = 6,378,137 meters

Now:

F = 6.67*10-11(100 * 5.97219*1024) / 63711372

Throw that into a calculator and get:

9.81353687175 N

Drop a wright from a height s and measure the time to fall t, s= 1/2 gt2.

Gravity is then measured by g= 2s/t2.

Why can your weight change if you go to another planet but your mass will not change?

Your mass is the amount of stuff that makes up our body. It can only change if you either remove something from your body or add something to it. Your weight is the amount of force you experience from gravity. It depends on both your mass and the strength of the gravity. Since the strength of gravity varies between the planets, so will your weight.

Is weight n mass The same?

Weight and mass is not the same.Mass is the amount of matter something has while weight is the amount of gravity exerted on something. The mass of an object never changes no matter where you go, but weight does. For example, if an object weighs 10 kg on Earth, it would weight a lot more on the Jupiter because of the Jupiter's greater gravity. However, the mass would stay the same. Weight is related to mass.Weight = mass x amount of gravity.

How is weight related to gravity?

You need to know gravity's acceleration to find the weight of an object. This explains why you may weigh X amount on Earth and Y amount on Pluto. Calculate using: F = M * A also known as Weight = Mass * gravity (On earth, gravity's acceleration is ~9.81m/s/s)

Mass is the amount of matter in an object, the more mass something has the more gravity something has.

Is it true that massis the amount of gravity in yourbody?

No. Mass is the amount of material in your body. Your weight is determined by gravity, and will increase as gravity increases, but the actual mass of your body is not affected by gravity.
