One of the simplest ways to do this
- Go to the page or post editor (depending where you want to insert the audio)
- Enable the HTML tab in the editor
- add the following code

(Please ensure that each line is new line of code and add the appropriate paths depending on the format of the audio file)
The other option is to use the plugins. The ones I would recommend are
Audio tube - wordpress.org/extend/plugins/audio-tube/
Google MP3 audio player - wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-mp3-audio-player/
