There is probably a small piece of paper jamming the switch inside the slot.
The switch is triggered as you push the paper in, it is very sensitive and light and can be easily jammed in the run position.
Be careful and make sure it is unplugged before putting you fingers near it.
Try using a small piece of paper and sliding it sideways in the slot to clear any debris.
If all else fails you may have to take the machine head apart to clear shreds of paper from the cutters and sensor switch.
