Remove the barreled receiver from the stock and then remove the screw from the left side of the receiver. The bolt will slide out.

Mfg Date Springfield Model 39AI purchased my Springfield Model 39A 410 Bolt Action from "Western Auto" in 1943-45 holds 2.5 & 3 inch shells 6 shot with a plug to restrict it to 2 shells plus one in the chamber. I have been told by gun dealers the 39A is the MFG date is April in 1939

The information available shows that they were manufactured between 1914 and 1945. A call to Springfield armory might help narrow it down.
It was built by Savage and is similar to the Springfield 18C bolt-action shotgun. Value is up to $100 in top condition. Hard to pin down the age of the gun, the basic model was made for quite a while. If it does not have a serial number it was made before 1968. sales@countrygunsmith.net
