First thing to do is look for the belt tensioner which is usually located lower center of the engine block. This spring loaded pulley keeps the serpentine belt tight and provides a continuous tension on the belt. There are sometimes TWO ways to pull the tenisoner up and provide enough slack in the belt to feed it around the accessories. The first and best is to use a socket and extension / breaker bar on the nut that holds the tensioner pulley to the block. You then can turn the nut (counter clockwise) and in turn rotate the pulley back which takes the tension off the belt. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DOING THIS SO IF THE SOCKET SLIPS OFF THE NUT YOU DON
Try buying a Haynes instruction manuel for the Beretta corsica all the diagrams you would ever need are in the back of it and they should be available for under 20 dollars.
you probably have a pulley with bad bearings. It might not even have anything to do with the timing belt idler pully. There is a serpentine belt right there too. It could be one of the pullys driven by that belt, and the t-belt might be fine. Remove the serp belt and see if the noise stops. If it does, it's one of those pullys.
