How do you implement a business plan once it has been finalized?

A business plan includes all sorts of milestones, objectives, goals and action plans. It is important that dates accompany each of these. Once a date has been assigned to a specific task, goal, etc., it becomes a target. Everyone involved in carrying out the activities set forth in a business plan must have a complete understanding of the various targets, their involvement and how they will be met or achieved. There needs to be some level of accountability and follow-up. When targets have been met, those involved should know. If certain targets have not been met by the dates assigned to them, find out why and what steps have or are being taken to address the issues. Use indicators such as sales volume, productivity benchmarks and market share statistics to guide you in making a decision as to whether or not a target has or has not been met. To stay organized and on top of things, use Excel or another program for creating a spreadsheet that lists all of the business' targets, dates, actions and results.
