There's a number of ways you can handle it...
1 - Move the plant to another location that is impossible for the cat to reach.
2 - Place a covering or blackade at the directions the cat usually approaches.
3 - Buy a shock mat and place the plant on top. When the cat steps on it, he will get shocked and stay away.
4 - Buy a sprayer that will automatically spray the cat when it detects motion (the cat approaching).
5 - Self-spray the cat when he comes near
6 - Place a pheromone nearby that will keep him away.
7 - Put a toy or treat of intrest nearby to distract his attention.
8 - Seclude the plant (ex: under an outdoor shelf) so the cat will loose intrest and/or miss it entirely.
