well on some cameras the screen is just blank (black) but if you turn it on while plucked in (in computer, laptop only) it will still charge and u can also edit, rename and other stuff while charging
(i could be wrong but that's what happens with my vivicam vivitar camera and I'm only 11) good luck XOxOX
