Obviously, it depends on the amounts of all the other ingredients. In a normal-sized pot serving about 10 people, I'd put in roughly 2 tablespoons. The nice thing is that onion powder is relatively subtle, so you really can't mess up too badly. A little more or a little less won't make a significant difference in flavor.
Recipe for chili con carne, with ground beef round, tomatoes, red beans, chili powder, peppers, and other seasonings.
INGREDIENTS:Prepare beans unless using cans. Rinse dry beans, cover with cold water, and let soak overnight. Drain, transfer to a large saucepan, and cover with fresh water. Cover and simmer for about 1 hour, or until tender. Drain.
In a large skillet, brown the onion, pepper, and ground beef in oil. Add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, peppers, and seasonings. Cover and simmer for 1 1.2 hours, adding a little water if needed to keep from sticking. Check and stir frequently. Add the cooked or canned beans and heat through.
Serves 6.
There's no single original recipe for chili con carne. It means chili with meat and it usually is a mix of beans, meat, chili peppers, tomato or chili powder and other spices.
Half a tsp. of chili paste equals one tsp. of chili powder.
use one and a half because if you put to much then it will overwhelm the chilli
i think equal. Experiment!
I guess that you have put too much chilli powder or chilli peppers into your chilli. The trith is that you can't do anything about to much chilli. the only thing is by diluting the chilli down with more sauce or add veg. Another way which is an old wives tale is to add a potatoe. this is supposed to absorb the acids causing the hotness.
well most people think that chillies come from Mexico. i don't really know !
