Unfortunately, Hepatitis C is one of the most dangerous of the hepatitis virii. No vaccine or cure is available. Hepatitis C can cause long-term or chronic liver damage. Teenagers and adults are at the highest risk of contracting Hepatitis C. It is transmitted through fluids, such as sexual intercourse, or through sharing needles with infected blood, or from a mother to a fetus in the womb. It can also be passed in such ways as using unsterilized instruments for things such as tattoos, manicures, and pedicures. It can show no symptoms at times, which makes it easier to transmit.

Prevention of hepatitis is simple: just be careful and make smart choices on which instruments to use.

Don't share needles, or engage in any risky behavior that involves the possibility of blood transfer. Hep C is a blood born pathogen, and despite the many Propaganda, fear-based campaigns out there to prevent unprotected sex among today's youth, transmission of the virus from intercourse is virtually impossible. Even if an infected female is bleeding or spotting, unless there are actively bleeding open wounds, you're pretty safe.

Sharing needles on the other hand, can get you infected. It's almost a certainly if you share a needle with someone who is infected, even just one time.
