AVG 7 will remove it.
I used AVG Free Edtion and it took it out. It was in two files. Wintrim.2.G and Wintrim.2.J was on my Computer.
AVG seems to take care of it now, using version 7, updated 14 Nov '04.
try this - If the virus is in the system volume information Download AVG from Grisoft.com, it is free. AVG will not pick it up straight away though. Follow the steps in this page and run AVG complete test. AVG should have picked up your virus this time. (You have the option in AVG to run a custom scan where you can set it to scan the system volume information only).
The free anti virus software AVG 6 was not effective on the first try although it did detect the virus which Norton antivirus did not. After using the Windows XP system restore to go back to a date before the virus had installed itself the AVG6 still detected the virus but also allowed me to delete it by using the AVG 6 Virus Vault Delete method.
Check to see where it is detecting the virus. There are some locations that AVG does not scan typically. This may be the case. I have, in the past, had a virus in the system restore file and AVG does not scan these files by default. The 'fix' was to shut off system restore, restart and then re-enable system restore.
Get Hijackthis, a freeware program. Scan for the refence to the file that AVG can't remove. Redo AVG virus scan. Reboot, repeat if necessary.
Run AVG antivirus. You can download it for free at http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php
Log on as Administrator. Install AVG Anti Virus from www.grisoft.com. Run AVG and it will disinfect the sentry.exe. I have just had done the above this morning. Works OK.
Use AVG antivirus program and keep updated on internet. The latest version is AVG 7, but AVG 6 will work. Do a complete scan: the Tropjan will be detected and cleaned away. I recently acquired this file and successfully removed it (from Windows\Temp\ICD1.TMP\DMPROXY.DLL)
Have you checked at the AVG website? They have some separate programs you can download for these trojeans their regular anti virus program wont get rid of.
use the avg antivirus scanner (free) to clean it out (scan and let it remove it). No biggy, I just formatted my c drive and that fixd all my problems. ps: I was unabel to delete the file, with AVG,or any thing else for that matter.
I downloaded the free version of AVG anti virus and this scanned found and deleted the trojan. It resides in the comm.dll file. Hope this helps
