There is a hole on each side of the steering wheel. Insert a 3mm rod or allen wrench into the holes and push. You are compressing a round straight spring that locks into a notch on each the airbag retaining pins. The airbag will come right out and you can then work removing the wire connectors, most likely they are melted and must be destroyed. Do NOT remove any of the trim on the steering wheel. It is not necessary.
