# Disconnect and isolate the remote negative battery cable. # Remove the overhead console retaining screw, located in the front of console near the windshield. # Using your fingertips, grasp the sides of the overhead console and pull straight down evenly to disengage the two snap clips at the rear of the unit. # Lower the overhead console far enough to access the wire harness connectors. # Disconnect the control module, courtesy lamps and if equipped, the power sunroof switch electrical connectors. # Remove the overhead console assembly from the vehicle.
I had taken my 2000 Silhouette in for other problems and since I had it in the shop, I asked about the lamps on the overhead console and on the steering wheel remotes for the radio. They told me that the lamps are not replaceable, but the whole switch has to bed replaced. I thought that this was quite a bummer.
On a 1999 Lincoln Continental : The button for the moon roof is in the overhead console
I assume these are the heated seat switch bulbs you're referring to. I have a '98 and if you lift up the arm rest there are 2 screws you need to remove. The console trim should lift up at that point exposing the switches. Disconnect the wiring to the switch. you should then be able to remove the whole switch from the console. You'll then need to carefully pry the top of the switch btton of the switch assembly. The bulb is wired into a small white rubber boot which you can pull off. Pay attention to how its wired into the boot when you replace the bulb. Hope that helps.
There are 4 Phillips head screws. One that you can see at the front leading edge. The other three are hidden in the storage cubbys of the console. Just open the doors and look with a flash light...you will see them. The console is very light and will hang by the switch wires when you unscrew it.
One screw at front, one at back, two inside middle compartment. Remove screws and slide forward.
