I bought two fresh lemons and quartered them. I brought a small non stick pan of water to a boil. I put the eight chunks of lemon in the water and let it simmer for about four hours. I checked it often and added water when necessary. I also turned on the fan above the stove to allow the steam to rise up there, in hopes to neutralize any odor in there as well.
I also bought an air odor eliminator spray - not the cover up kind but the kind that is supposed to kill odor causing bacteria.
I'm never cooking onions in my apartment ever again!

∙ 15y agoTypically an onion doesn't have an odour unless it's rotten or has been cut. I would put it in a ziploc bag and that should keep the gases that an onion produces contained.
