from the age of 5 months I used to play with my little girl (Dua)esp during feed times; I would say 'Where's Dua', 'Where's Dua' and pretend to look everywhere for about half a minute; and then finally look at her and say 'there's Dua' - that I think is what taught her her name. she is now 8+ months and I still do it everyday. Now when she is playing I say 'Dua' and either she answers with a sound (if she is sitting where I can't see her) or turns and looks at me.

∙ 14y agoFill your pockets with small treats. Throughout the day say his name and then give him a treat. It won't take him long to figure out that when he hears his name a treat is on the way! Once he reaches the point where he stares expectantly at you when you say his name, it's time to start fading the treats. Who wants to have to give treats every single time you want to get your dog's attention? For a few days, when you say his name only give him a treat every other time. On the times when you don't give a treat, still give praise. Gradually increase the number of times you give praise only and decrease the number of times you give a treat and praise. Eventually you can wean him off the treats and have him give you attention any time you say his name.
