Generally reverse the direction, it this fails, then probably you have a tree root bundle fouled. In either case reverse the direction 1/4 of a turn and try to withdraw the snake. You can use a pipe wrench, pliers, hands, or the machinery for the reverse rotation. The trick is to release the roots or supply enough force to break the tree roots. I have had to get a jack [ scissors and/or hydraulic axel jack] to supply the force. "Vice Grips" can be used on an armored cable and blocks of wood to get the jack in place. Generally once you get a few inched of relief then the machinery and/or you hands can free the snake. Keep in mind in most municipalities it is the "municipalities responsibility to do this from the [clean out, on private property] to the street. Hope this helps as this can be a time consuming and time consuming exercise.
