It's a matter of personal preference. What works great for one person isn't always how it is going to work for another. That's why there are so many different brands. Same is true for cars ... impossible to compare by brand names.

∙ 12y agoAll paint companies make paints that are designed for durability and longevity, along with paints that are made strictly for a price-point. If you use any company's best paints you'll get a long lasting paint job. If you go to a dedicated paint store, like a Sherwin Williams, or Glidden Pro store, you can get better, both higher quality and higher priced, paints than in a home center.

Sherwin Williams is clearly a superior product. As a painting contractor we've had opportunity to use a variety of products and found consistency of Rodda product to be unreliable.

Behr thinks so, I believe they are correct. I've used both. Try a blind paint test. Pour out some Behr Premium Plus Ultra and some Sherwin Williams Duration. Have someone roll both on a white primed piece of drywall. Watch the coverage. It's visually distinct. Behr wins hands down. Now try Behr Premium Plus and Sherwin Williams Pro Mar 200. Now you really see the difference. I've used both on my rental properties. Behr allows me to save money and time. Fewer coats are needed. The pealing exterior window frames cover well with Ultra paint and primer in 1. The paint shell that follows after drying is hard and durable. So far one winter shows no sign of degrade, fading or discoloration. Home Depot's pricing .is remarkable less than the Sherwin Williams. Unless I receive some stimulus to buy other paint- Behr is all I will buy

Sherwin William offer non=slip paint and I have found it to be far more superior than what other discount chains offer. I have found by experience that Sherwin Williams paint lasts years longer and can withstand more traffic.

All paints are pretty good but the best in my mind is Sherwin Williams. Many Locations comparable. Ask a local painter and why. He will tell you what he wants to use. Im in the southwest and we use Dunn Edwards or sherwin Williams because its what we do everyday and familiar with the products

I just had a chat with one of their online reps and they indicated that Lennar uses "Eco Friendly" Sherwin Williams paints. If you call Sherwin Williams they will probably have a file of all Lennar paints used. The rep also shared that the paint co will often write the paint codes in the fuse box...or perhaps on the fuse box door. Good luck!

Sherwin Williams along with most of the DIY stores can colour match any paint sample....I worked in the Sears paint department for 25 years....Desoto Chemical was the original maker of the Weatherbeater and Easy Living paints...as like anything else, Sears in an effort to cut costs turned the paint manufacturing over to Sherwin Williams......if possible take a 3"x3" colour swatch from a unweathered area to SW or a DIY store....while working at Sears I colour matched thousands of gals. of paint in Sears and and other brands....the secret is getting a good swatch/colour card...good luck and remember the satin/semi gloss/flat finish will make the original finish slightly different...Rob

Is it a good idea to paint roofs with special paint to stop moss growth?
As far as I know there is not paint that "stops moss growth" The problem needs to be fixed by killing the sources of the growth of mildew and moss. Perhaps it is a moisture problem. You need to kill the moss first then paint it with a special coating. I called Sherwin Williams and they helped me out tremendously. Just make sure you tell them if you have a pitched roof or a not. It makes a difference.
