How does Henry in the time traveler's wife manage to be talking to clare's father and brother when he was just shot and clare heard him call her name came and Henry shushed her wasn't he dying?

AN early Henry was in the field hunting with Claires father and brother - he was the one that shushed Claire. However the 43 year old Henry had also travelled to the same time and unable to run away because the frostbite had taken is feet and naked he was shot for trespassing and died at 43. The Henry that shushed Claire was younger and watching his older self die.

In the book "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger, Henry can interact with past versions of people he knows, called chrono-impairment. When the present Henry is shot and dying, he can still interact with Clare's father and brother from a past time period, which is why he was able to talk to them even in his weakened state.
