AN early Henry was in the field hunting with Claires father and brother - he was the one that shushed Claire. However the 43 year old Henry had also travelled to the same time and unable to run away because the frostbite had taken is feet and naked he was shot for trespassing and died at 43. The Henry that shushed Claire was younger and watching his older self die.

I hope this helps its a complex thing too explain but there are two Henrys in that scene of the book.

In the book "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger, Henry can interact with past versions of people he knows, called chrono-impairment. When the present Henry is shot and dying, he can still interact with Clare's father and brother from a past time period, which is why he was able to talk to them even in his weakened state. This ability allows him to fulfill certain events in his timeline despite his physical condition.
