The primary gates of the horse are the walk (a four beat gait) the trot (a two beat gait where diagonal limbs move in tandem), the canter (a three beat gait) and the gallop (a four beat gait).

There are several other gaits: pace, rack, running walk, single foot, tolt, fino,

etc.

Here's a basic overview of a horse's paces.

  1. The walk. This is a 4 beat gait. This means that the hooves fall to the ground 4 times before starting the next step. The sequence of the gait goes: left hind, left fore, right hind, right fore.
  2. The trot. This is a 2 beat gait. The footfall is: left fore and right hind for beat 1, right fore and left hind for beat 2.
  3. The canter. This is a 3 beat gait. The footfall for the right rein is: left hind, right hind and left fore, right fore. The footfall for the left rein is: right hind, left hind and right fore, left fore.
  4. The gallop. This is a 4 beat gait. The footfall for the right rein is: left hind, right hind, left fore, right fore. The footfall for the left rein is: right hind, left hind, right fore, left fore.

*The horses left leg in front is the left fore, left leg behing the left hind. Right leg in front right fore, right leg behind, right hind.

Hope this helps. There are some good videos on YouTube for visual help.

depending on what you mean, horses are trailered by people, either by a divided trailer or a more spacious trailer,a stock trailer.

horses travel byy themselves also, by obviously on foot (or hoof =] ) but they can also swim across relatively calm water, some for much lengths too!

A horse moves it's head in mostly the same way that a human does. The only difference is that the horses neck allows for a more telescopic movement enabling the horse to move it's head farther around in most directions.
