The immune system is never completely inactive. There are always white blood cells patrolling the body for the first signs of an invader.

But in the case of an infection, helper T-cells are activated by antigen presentation.

Antigen presentation occurs when another immune cell, such as the natural killer cell or cytotoxic T-cell destroys a foreign cell (such as a infectious bacteria) and takes the bacterias outer membrane, and combines pieces of it with its own.

The victorious immune cell then approaches a helper T-cell, shows it's battle prize of enemy skins, and the helper T-cell is activated, and wakes up the immune system to fight off an infection.

This antigen presentation must happen all over the immune system to have a big enough effect. T-cells are always being alerted of invading particles and sending out signals, but it takes all of them to signal a full-fledged immune system activation.

the immunity that results from the production of antibodies by the immune system in response to the presence of an antigen.

What is active vs passive immunity?

Active immunity occurs when an individual is exposed to the disease causing organism, and the immune system produces antibodies to counteract the disease. Future exposure to the same pathogens will stimulate a rapid response from the immune system to produce antibodies. Passive immunity occurs when an individual receives antibodies instead of inducing the immune system to produce antibodies.

What does your body rely on when you have a cold?

The most important thing when you have a cold or flu is to get plenty of fluids, food, and rest. Perhaps you are thinking of the immune system, and yes it is fighting off the virus; but all the symptoms you experience when you have a cold or flu are actually just side effects of the immune system fighting the virus. The infection itself with these types of viruses are totally asymptomatic if the immune system does not become active. The immune system is reacting as if these were much more serious diseases than they are (at least in most people).

What would happened if you did not have the immune system?

You would die. Without the immune system even the smallest disease would stay in your body at least 5 times longer if not ever leave. The immune system fights of diseases and without it, our body's would be open to attack. Without the immune system you would be lucky if you made it to 10 years old, which would be a miracle. This is the reason we are fighting for Cure aids, AIDS kills the immune system, leaving the body open to many diseases in which medicines are constantly applied to kill them. If a bad enough disease gets in there, without anything to ward it off, Its game over.

What medications that you may have taken in the past could contribute to shingles?

Since shingles (herpes zoster) is a viral infection that often emerges opportunistically after an impairment of the immune system, steroids such as prednisone taken for longer periods of time (weeks to months) may sufficiently lower the immune system as to allow this virus to become active.

Does chondriana reverse the aging process?

No. Condriana is a dormant part of your immune-system. It needs high ATP/GTP levels to become active. ATP/GTP on the other hand will reverse aging of cells.
