Lady Capulet believes its completely normal for young girls like Juliet (13 , reaching 14 years old) to get married. This is because Lady Capulet herself got married at that age and also saw many young girls in Verona Juliet's age who are married.

Lord Capulet does not like marriage so young. This is shown when he talks to Paris, a man who wants to marry Juliet. He tells Paris to wait 2 years until she is older, then he can marry her.

How old is Jocasta in 'Oedipus Rex'?

No information is given other than that she is Oedipus' mother in "Oedipus Rex" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. - 405 B.C.E.).Specifically, Oedipus is the son of Theban monarchs Laius and Jocasta. In ancient Greece, members of the royal household get engaged early on and may marry young. Jocasta therefore may be as young as 12-15 when she marries her cousin Laius. So by the time of the play's action, Jocasta's age likely ranges from the early to mid fifties in comparison to the early to mid forties for Oedipus, her son and second husband.

How early marriage encouraged by Islam could be justified while it affects health of mother and child?

The question assumes that early marriage affects negatively the health of the mother and the child and asks for justification to encourage early marriage in Islam while it is the opposite. Early marriage is better for the health of mother and child and that is why it is encouraged in Islam. In addition, early marriage is better for both wife and husband because it allows a good span of time and better chance for both to get medically treated successfully if there is pregnancy health problems. Also, early marriage is better for both man and woman (if affordable) to protect them from illegal sexualexcitements or sexual affairs. On the other hand, if mother finds health problems due to frequent pregnancy she is allowed, per religion, to control giving birth and to make the necessary precautions to delay pregnancy.
