How does our geographical location affect the healthcare that we get?

Areas with higher concentrations of people and higher populations in general tend to have more available health care resources and facilities, more doctors and nurses with more training and experience, and are closer to the communities they serve.

Rural areas tend to have less hospitals and more small clinics with less equipment and less staff. It can often take longer for people to reach services or vice versa.

As a result, people in the largest cities like New York, San Francisco, LA, and Seattle tend to have rapid access to world-class healthcare and surgery, whereas the quality of healthcare available in smaller and less affluent cities like Detroit Michigan or Toledo Ohio tend to have less available in many cases. Rural healthcare can be more fragmented and hit or miss.

This said, it is still possible to get excellent healthcare from the country doctor or the public health nurse... but it really depends on the situation. There are some excellent rural clinics out there but if you had a stroke you might rather be at UCLA to get it managed.
