Orangutans are one of many species threatened by the booming palm oil industries in Indonesia and Malaysia--where tropical rain forests are being cleared at an alarming rate in order to provide land for plantations that grow oil palm. An estimated 5,000 orangutans die every year after losing their forest homes and food sources, and many are shot or tortured when they are found wandering onto plantations
Palm Oil is taken from the Oil Palm tree which grows in the tropical rainforests of Malaysia. To get palm oil, the trees of the rainforest are burnt down, taking the animals of the tropical rainforest with them. Resulting in the almost extinction of many of the animals living in the rainforest.
orangutans need to live in tall, strong trees 50ft up in the rainforest. Due to palm oil plantations, the orangutans are forced to the ground for food and end up being used as food etc. Also, baby orangutans are being orphaned because their parents go missing as they have been looking for food.
it kills the rainforest animals by destroying their habitats
People are cutting down trees for palm oil to put into foods. By doing this, they are deystroying orangutangs homes.
They like it.
Yes.
try and not use things with palm oil in them... if you can help it!
Orangutans should be helpd by doin STUFF (not by txsmallfry!!!)Slow their reproduction? Donate to places that care for orangutans!
Palm oil is the biggest threat to the orangutan life. Palm oil is in many foods, drinks and even in cosmetics like lipstick. the reason Orangutans are being killed is becasue the palm oil company's see the Orangutans who are living on their land so they kill them. but the only reason why the orangutans are on their land is because of the deforestation to make room for the palms.
No, Palm oil is a saturated vegetable oil that comes from the fruit of the oil palm. These grow in the habitat of the orangutan and also sumatran tigers in some regions. Therefore when these oil palm plants are forested it destroys their habitat, reducing orangutan and tiger numbers as well. The deforestation of these plants is not sustained very well.
An infant onrangutan normally weigh about 1.5 kg (3.3 pounds) at the time of birth. The baby orangutan is small enough to fit in the palm of a human hand.
The Western Palm squirrel is not extinct, it is a threatened species due to habitat loss.
because humans are destroying their habitat. like cutting trees and taking wayy too many fruits. also cutting down palm trees for palm oil. male orangutans always stay up on palm trees,so without them they are dying out.
People are illegally buying them or trapping them into cages to sell to zoos, pet stores, or orangutan eaters or illegally keeping them. Its all because of the palm oil plantation, people create them making sure that they are dying out. The male orangutans don't have anywhere to sleep because the palm trees are the only trees that can support their weight of 118kg, this means there are less male orangutans around because either they sleep on the ground and are killed or they find another tree and it breaks and they fall out and die. Poachers also try to kill them , they also drag baby orangutans away from their mothers (which is tight and cruel). They also slaughter the baby orangutan's mothers, they cut down the trees which is taking away their habitat :( we should do something about it and help
