she's the mother of our lord! without sin, ever-virgin, and the one human who was raised up, body and soul, into heaven upon her death. a powerful advocate to those who ask her for help, and someone worthy of praise and admiration.
Contrary to popular belief, Catholics do not worship Mary.
Let me put it into perspective:
To Catholics, Mary is the mother of God, and my extension, the mother of everyone, whether they accept it or not. They revere Mary above other saints because of all that she has done.
A popular quote on the subject: 'Mary is the mother of God. So if you want to get in good with God, who do you get close to? His mom.'- anonymous
Mary is treated as the greatest saint because she is the only person (Besides Jesus) who has never tasted sin, Original or personal. That is why we call her "The immaculate conception", born without sin.
She is the mother of Jesus whom we believe as God, therefore we give her the title "Mother of God" This doesn't mean she is greater than God, it only means that she gave birth to God.
She is very close to God and therefore we pray to asking for her intercessions (For her to pray for us). This is a form of humility and an effective way of praying since Mary is closer than we are to God. She is a mediator. We don't worship her.
We give her other honorable names such as "Queen of heaven" (Since the book of Revelation depict her as very powerful), "Holy virgin" (She never had intercourse in her whole life) etc. She is very pleasing to God.
Chosen by God to be the mother of Jesus the Messiah.
Mary is regarded as the Mother Of God by the Catholic Church.
Greeks that are Catholic, do believe in the Virgin Mary.
No, Catholics do no believe that St. Anne was a virgin.
Apparitions of Mary or others are not doctrinal issues and Catholics are not required to accept them.
Non-Catholics do not believe Mary intercedes for anyone.
The catholics believe in the assumption of Mary because they believe she is with out sin. Therefore she would be taken to heaven and she would not have to die.
Yes, of course we believe she was real. We just don't worship her, or pray to her. Catholics do that.
Because He was conceived in her womb and she gave birth to Him.
Catholics do not believe that Mary died: rather, they believe she was assumed into Heaven and crowned as its Queen by God when the time came for her to no longer live on Earth. Mary may have died a natural death and then her body was assumed into Heaven a short time later. Both of these beliefs are acceptable to the Catholic Church.
Mary Land I believe ^.~
Mary. The fact that Catholics believe that Mary is to be acknowledged. And that Catholics use rosaries and speak the Hail Mary prayer. They do not worship Mary, but rather talk to her much as someone would talk or pray to a loved on that has passed away.
Catholics are free to believe that the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared 18 times to Saint Bernadette in 1858. It is not an article of faith so belief is not required for salvation.
The main view of the catholics is that Mary was a virgin all her life, Mary intercedes for us and not Jesus, they believe Mary did not die but went to heaven.
