The Himalayas affect the climate of India by blocking cold air blowing from the North that comes from Siberia and Central Asia. Without the Himalayas, India (except for the parts of India that are in the Himalayas) would get cold temperatures in the winter months.

The eastern and western ghats are small mountain ranges on the coastline of India. A lot of trade happens through these Coastlines. The western ghats distribute the southwest rainfall along the west so that the Deccan plateau isn't continuously precipitating.
