That depends on which side of the political aisle you ask. Republicans, who generally are opposed to the president, would say he has not done an effective job with the economy nor with the deficit; they wish he had not been re-elected. Democrats, who generally support the president (even if they don't agree with every decision he makes), would say he has made the best of a bad situation, and that despite constant Republican obstruction, he has still taken America in a positive direction. So, the answer to this question will be very partisan. There does not seem to be any middle ground when it comes to judging Mr. Obama, just as there was a similar polarization in judging President Bush.
