At 12 years old you need to ensure that a heathly diet is put into place as the body is still growing and can not afford to undergo adult diet suppliments and pills. The best way is to intake more vegies and start going for walks or runs. Cut out as much sweets or soft drink as possible, but dont make the mistake of cutting them out all together as the child may feel like they are being punished, and sneak these snacks instead. Instead of fatty meats with meals, change to fish that is high in protein. Aviod cooking with any oils (use the grill instead).

Assuming you naturally burn 2,000 calories a day, and also assuming you need to take in 1,200 calories a day minimum to stay healthy, I'd say it will take you 87.5 days to burn that off. Assuming you run a deficit of 800 calories a day. Really isn't that hard, do it if you want to, don't do it if you don't want to.

By eating healthy! Don't drink diet sodas or regular sodas either. Diet sodas cause water retention! Cut back on junk food like chocolate bars and chips and all that. Take walks 3 times a week and exercise instead of watching tv all the time. Hope you lose it fast!

Play outside with friends after eating. Don't just go sit down and watch tv after. Don't have so many midnight snakcs either. When you're shopping walk the aisles before you buy anything.
