i had a hernia operation in the end of January 2010, and i asked my dr. who operated my surgery about when i can exercise .
He answered 2 month after the surgery date. So i added an extra month on those 2 month for safety, then i went to exercise in the gym, but after half an hour of exercising i felt i little pain in the cut ( hernia cut ) so i stopped and I'm waitting and extra month to give the hernia cut time to recover. So i think it takes like 6 month to 100% recover. also after i finish my 6 months I'll write you and tell you if it is OK then or not.
Hiatal Hernia surgery is a major operation where incisions are made into the abdomen that take a few weeks to heal. As the stomach is pulled out of the esophagus one has a nasal gastric tube to drain out the stomach acid. Food is not permitted until this is removed. One can be in hospital for up to a week with further recovery at home including wearing the dressings over the wound.
