In the USA, each member of the House of Representatives is elected to a term of 2 years. If someone has to be replaced (due to death, resignation, etc.) any person replacing them only serves until the end of their unexpired term. The US House of Representatives has no limit on the number of consecutive terms someone can be elected to.
