There are quite a number of Baptist organizations today. The main governing distinctive of these churches is that they hold to the autonomy (independent rule) of the local church. Therefore some of the groups have organized because of location. Others have developed over controversy, as had happened in other groups considered as denominations: Presbyterians, Methodists, Lutherans, etc.

There are dozens and probably hundreds of Baptist organizations around the world. Strictly speaking, it is difficult even to talk about Baptist "denominations"; most Baptist groups function as conventions or associations of churches, without a strong central church government. This is because a fundamental characteristic of Baptist churches is the autonomy of the local church. However, it is possible to talk about distinct "denominations" or conventions among Baptists. In the USA, the largest is the Southern Baptist Convention, which broke off from the original Northern Baptist Convention (now the American Baptist Churches USA) in the mid 1800s over the issue of slavery. Top among prominent Baptist conventions and associations in the US are the historically black Baptist groups: National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.; National Baptist Convention of America; and Progressive National Baptist Convention. There are also the Landmark Baptists (American Baptist Association), Conservative Baptist Association of America, National Primitive Baptist Convention, North American Baptist Convention, General Association of Regular Baptist Churches, United Free Will Baptist Church, Baptist General Conference of America, and North American Baptist General Conference. This list is limited to US Baptists, is far from inclusive of the smaller groups, and it does not encompass at all the multitude of independent Baptist churches across the nation. Worldwide, there are a multitude of Baptist conventions and associations specific to various countries and regions, as well as global or national groups with member congregations, such as the Baptist World Alliance and Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.

Baptist and Methodist are denominations of Christianity.
In a general sense, "denominations" refers to different categories or groups within a larger entity, often used in the context of religious or financial institutions. For example, within Christianity, there are various denominations such as Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox. In finance, denominations can refer to the different values of currency or securities.
Many different denominations use baptism and thus the "baptistry". Most common is the "Baptist" denomination, however, you will find that most protestant denominations baptise.

Baptists are normally autonomous and independent. Local churches may gather into denominations, fellowships, and conventions. However, there is no one overarching organization of Baptists. A large number of Baptist denominations have chosen to be members of a larger organization... the Baptist World Alliance (or BWA). The BWA does not control these denominations. The number of Baptists that are associated with the BWA is in excess of 40 million. Many Baptist groups do not associate with the BWA. As of 2013, John Upton is the President of the BWA, and Neville Callam is the General Secretary.

It depends on what you mean by "active". If you are referring to which has the most members, it would be Baptist. According to Wikipedia.org, there are approximately 110 million members of the Baptist denomination, which is the largest amount of all Protestant denominations.
Strictly speaking "denomination" is the better term for your question than "religion". Denominations are the subdivisions or varieties within a religion. Within Christianity there are many denominations. The denominations which are called Protestant share common roots in the Reformation of Roman Catholicism in the 16th century. Some examples of Protestant denominations would include: Lutheran, Baptist, Anglican/Episcopalian, Presbyterian, Evangelical Reformed, Methodist, and Congregationalist.
Methodist, Assemblies of God, Baptist, Luthern, Church of Christ, Pentecostal, and Cowboy church.
