You can see this happen in the F2 molecule. Each fluorine atom shares a valence electron with the other fluorine atom. So there is just one covalent bond.

What kind of change is between ionic and covalent bonds?

Ionic Bonds are when electrons are exchanged to satisfy the octet of each element reacting. Covalent Bonds are when two atoms SHARE their electrons to satisfy the octet rule.

Please predict how many covalent bond oxygen will make to satisfy the octet rule?

It makes two covalent bonds which completes its octet.

How many covalent bonds are formed with boron?

Boron will form the covalent bonds based on the octet rule.

How does the carbon atom complete its octet?

it forms covalent bonds by sharing electrons

What number of covalent bonds will fluorine form in order to achieve an octet?

One.

What rule is used to determine how many covalent bonds an element can form?

The number of Covalent Bonds is equal to eight minus the group number.

How many covalent bonds are formed by silicon?

The element silicon would be expected to form 4 covalent bond(s) in order to obey the octet rule. Si is a nonmetal in group 4A, and therefore has 4 valence electrons. In order to obey the octet rule, it needs to gain 4 electrons. It can do this by forming 4 single covalent bonds.

Why do carbon and nitrogen form covalent bonds?

carbon and nitrogen atoms form covalent bonds with one another in order to achieve an octet (8) of valence electrons between them.

In forming covalent bonds where the octet rule is obeyed sulfur usually forms?

six;seven

What is the total number of covalent bonds normally associate with a single carbon atom in a compound?

4. Carbon obeys the octet rule. In covalent conpounds it has 4 covalent bonds. It can also form ionic compounds (carbides).

How many covalent bonds are formed by tellurium?

The element tellurium would be expected to form 2covalent bonds in order to obey the octet rule.Te is a nonmetal in group 6A, and therefore has 6 valence electrons. In order to obey the octet rule, it needs to gain 2 electrons. It can do this by forming 2single covalent bonds.
