I read that as much as 50% of horses in the U.S. are regularly sick...some mildly and many more very sick. Is there data on which sicknesses horses are likely to get? What is the most effective cure for a sick horse.?
There is no hard answer for this. The amount of horses that get sick yearly will depend on many factors and is not a steady number from year to year.
that's hard to answer. if ppl are careful and don't do stuff to horses that they shouldn't, they will be fine.

They don't really have a name for a group of race horses as far as I know. Cause generally when racing, they compete against each other. And it's a solo race for the win. So there is no association with the other horses, like for example a team of basketball players. There is no real name for a pack of race horses or a herde of race horses, or horde of race horses..............
A total of 48 horses will be counted in all four horse race.
There are 13 horses that race in the Preakness Stakes.
A Race
Thoroughbreds can race at speed of 25 to 45 MPH on average. The horses in the Preakness are high level horses that have learned to rate their speed but many will race in the 30 MPH range for the whole length of the race.
There is not an official record of how many Kentucky Derby horses have been injured in the race. This is also because injuries may have been caused by the race but appeared later.
