Our bodies are designed to walk without exerting much energy. Unless you are walking at a brisk pace (4mph +) you are not going to get the least bit "fit". It also depends on what your definition of "fit" is. When I think fit in this situation I think in shape cardiovascularly.

There are many things that could possibly be true of a person walking up the steps of a downward-moving escalator at a constant speed. This person could potentially stay in exactly the same place.
That are not many steps that you can take to delay menopause. Menopause is just something that happens to your body. You should try to stay as healthy as possible.
