1.Start Moving: If you are not losing weight, then it means either you are not moving much or moving less or doing the wrong thing at the gym which is not giving you results. So, move that body of yours and start burning some calories.

2.Eat Right: It is not dieting or but rather eating right. Fast foods are tasty, cheap and save a lot of time, but are also fast tickets to death, very cheap when we later end up in the hospital and need not invest a lot of time overcoming the gifts of lifestyle diseases these fast foods give us. Eating right means:

a.grocery shopping

b.not so budget friendly: one kg broccoli costs INR 200, but a plate of Samosa costs INR 30!!!

c.takes a lot of time in preparing.

d.But believe me, you will be happy that you ate right because, your weighing machine will thank you, your hospital records will make you happy, your health will improve for the best and you will be a happy and healthier individual.

3.Stay Hydrated: Our brain sometimes doesn’t understand whether we are hungry or thirsty and so gives the wrong signals, so instead of grabbing a bite, first drink a glass of water and if you still feel hungry, then go grab a bite.

a.Also do not drink water 30 min before a meal and 1 hour after the meal.

b.Drink water(warm water preferably) early in the morning , before brushing for best results and a clean colon.

4. Eat at the Right time: You might eat right but eating at the wrong time will not give us the desired results. Finish your dinner by 8:00 PM and eat nothing until breakfast the next day.

5. Enough Sleep: Sleep for at least 6–8 hours daily. People who do not get enough sleep tend to be more stressed and food provides them relief, so hit the sack soon. Here are a few more tips that might help.

6. Do not skip a meal: If you do that, you will end up being very hungry and will binge eat, which is worst. So always eat your meal.

7.Eat only if you are hungry: Do not stress eat or let cravings guide you, remember you binge or overeat and then you are filled with guilt and you repeat the mistake, thinking just this time!!!! and you won’t realize that jsut this time has in fact made you 10–20 kilos fatter!!!

8.Mind over matter: Always nothing can beat your morale or your psychological strength. Decide on a goal and don’t budge until you hit it. You and you alone can do it, you are the master of your life, one can only guide, but you have to walk the path.

So, how many carbs daily on a low carb diet?

Well, the usual number of carbohydrates for a low carb diet ranges from 20 to 50 grams daily. However, the answer for individuals varies according to how difficult he or she finds it to lose weight and how insulin resistant they are. Many people have a degree of insulin resistance, often without being aware of it. In which case they will gain weight very easily and find it very hard to lose weight despite their best efforts.

If the above sounds like you, then start at the low end of the carbs per day range. Experiment and discover what amount works well for you as an individual. Sometimes the carb allowance can be as high as 70 grams of carbohydrate per day. However, 70 grams is very generous for a low carb diet and usually only for those who are engaging in regular weight training and intense cardio exercise.

Get your carbohydrates from natural sources such as non-starchy leafy green vegetables, and broccoli, and low carb fruits such as berries. Unlike protein and fat, there is no minimum daily requirement of carbohydrates in order to flourish physically, or to sustain life, but they do have many beneficial phytochemicals and fiber, so eating some is fine (as long as they are unprocessed) and within your daily carbohydrates allowance.

Apart from an occasional treat, strictly avoid refined processed carbohydrates. Over-consumption of refined processed carbohydrates is a major cause of weight gain, obesity, heart disease, insulin resistance, borderline or type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and many other diet related conditions and diseases. Replace refined processed carbohydrates withspecific fat burning proteins foods and make good use of the fat burning thermic effect of these foods. If you are unsure what these foods are, at the bottom of this answer you will find a page link leading to a list of fat burning proteins and more detailed information about the thermic effect of these foods.

It can also help to understand your own body type. An ectomorph (thin person) can eat more carbs than an endomorph (fatter person) who can only consume very few carbs without gaining weight. A mesomorph can consume an amount in between the two. In addition, time your carbs: Consume carbs before workouts or periods of activity. However, consume less carbs during the evening.

Why?

Well, as we know, carbohydrates are a source of energy. If we consume carbs and then sleep, the body cannot adequately use up the energy consumed. Therefore, consume your carbs before high physical activity hours and keep intake very low, or nil, during low activity hours or nighttime.

Many people who have not had success on a low calorie diet find that a low carb diet works best for them. This reason for this is not only insulin resistance but also many people are addicted to refined processed carbohydrates, often without being aware of it (and admittedly they are deliciously addictive). Is a leotard best for yoga?

It depends on what you are comfortable wearing, assuming there is no dress code for your class. Ask the instructor what they think. I guess there is nobody else wearing a leotard or you wouldn't need to ask.

I have just started yoga and I wear a pair of tight leggings, which I find very comfortable, and a close fitting tee-shirt. I'm thinking about wearing a leotard with the leggings but I hadn't worked up the courage to do so yet. Several other guys wear lycra compression shorts and so do some of the women. Other women wear capri or full length leggings or yoga pants. None wear a leotard but there are quite few skimpy tee-tops and camisoles so a short sleeve Leo wouldn't be too revealing.

If you feel comfortable wearing a leotard and the instructor is okay with it go for it. It has got to be the most comfortable thing to wear. Let us hear what happens.

So here is an update. a couple of months ago I asked my yoga instructor if she thought a leotard and lycra shorts would been okay for yoga. She said yes and I have been wearing just that ever since. I feels great and nobody has made any comment about it.

Can you lose weight by only eating one meal per day?

== == == == == == One answer One meal a day is not enough to keep a person going. After a while, the body resists, goes into starvation mode, and holds on to body fat. If you want to lose weight and avoid yo-yo dieting, you should eat small meals throughout the day. This will improve your metabolism. More input I am a Muslim. We fast in Ramadan. We wake up to have a meal before sunrise (which could be 3-4 o'clock in the morning), and don't eat all day, not even water until sunset (this can vary from 4 o'clock in winter to 9 o'clock in summer - like now). Last Ramadan started towards the end of September and lasted for one month. I lost one whole stone (14 pounds) that month from eating only one meal in the evening. Now its June, and have since put it back on because of eating burgers and crisps and chocolates and other junk. I will be started to eat one meal in the evening again tomorrow to lose the weight again. Healthy meals obviously. Exercise helps. If you burn off 800 calories during the day when you are not eating, (I do this by jumping rope for 1 hour) and have a 300-400 calories meal - which is enough to fill you up in the evening. You have burned 400 excess calories that day, which add up over a week and help the weight come off. Of course, you can burn more calories and lose more weight. If you lose lean muscle instead of body fat, this will radically slow down your ability to lose weight in the future. Eating only one meal per day is also likely to encourage you eat junk food. By eating small frequent healthy meals and exercising, you will improve your metabolism and create lean muscle mass. Lean muscle in turn, further increases your metabolic rate. More input I've done both ways. I've lost weight the 'proper way' eating the 5-6 meals and working out like a fiend at the gym. As some have mentioned you will only have weight loss when you calories burned exceed calories consumed. However, recently, after five years on not exercising, I ballooned up to 225. I tried the unhealthy approach of one meal a day, using coffee as my boost during the morning and day, and eating a sensible lunch. Heck even some of the dinners were not sensible. Me being a steak fanatic, I've had some monster porterhouses. However, I did lose a lot of weight in a short time. In 30 days, I lost 35 pounds! For the most part my main exercise was brisk walking 3 miles. Some days twice. So, for someone to say one meal per day doesn't work is wrong. If you have the luxury of time and the money for a gym membership, you can do it the 'correct way' and lose the same weight over 6 months or longer. Admittedly, one day a meal is not for the weak willed. I think the big win for me was going back to the mind set I had when I worked out, that eating was a function and not to be savored and enjoyed every time. And my dinner meals are usually pretty moderate. Even try the subway thing on occasion. Also, one last note, there are some moments during the diet, when I would have a cocktail or two at night to knock out early to ease the stomach pangs. And some of the walking sessions were tough. But the body is amazing and it can adjust. Now I'm in the process of slowly upping the calories, to a maintenance phase. So far so good. No weight gain. It just makes sense that the metabolism will slow down, and maybe I will get fatter. NO WAY! I only have 20 pounds to lose and I will try eating 5 to 6 meals a day, exercise, and green tea. To lose excess body fat and to increase your metabolism, eat a meal about every three waking hours (5 or 6 meals per day). You will not be eating more food; you will simply be spreading it throughout the day. Each of those five or six feedings should contain at least 15 grams of unprocessed protein (from natural sources) for a female or at least 20 grams per feeding for a male. This one change alone will speed up your metabolism and help to curb food cravings. You can do more to boost your metabolism besides eating well. For example, proper strength training will increase lean muscle. Lean muscle is your metabolic furnace that will burn extra energy (calories) 24 hours a day. Can diabetics go on the Weight Watchers diets?

Yes they should be able to and it probably is more healthy than what they are eating now, if it is fast food etc.. Weight watchers has listed on each box, food exchanges and grams of sugar, protein etc.. so you need to track or keep count of what and how many calories you are taking in based on your activity level etc.. Diabetics are at an increased risk for cardiovascular disease and even carpal tunnel syndrome.

They most definantly can. It may be a little more difficult for them to stretch though. This sport will also help them get fit and improve their health. Doing backbends might be just 2% more challenging for them to learn though. It will take maybe a few more days to learn stuff.

What are the problems associated with fasting?

NOT DOING IT EVER, THAT's WHAT WRONG WITH FASTING. PEOPLE AREN'T DOING ENOUGH OF IT.

I water fasted a few times, I prefer water fast for far more weight loss. I was loaded with salt and lost weight rapidly. I got better but didn't know I was built on junk for many years, I ate normal things my body didn't recognize as all that great for it. So, I learned to eat spirulina and chlorella 1/2 a cup mixed in fresh lemon juice 4 times a week, and it helped me a lot. Also I ate a lot of fruit and carrot juice for 7 years after that. I had 2 pregnancies that gave me diabetes, but fasting cleared it up. The change in diet and a 3rd pregnancy gave me no nausea, I had nausea for 7 straight months the previous two times due to the problems with cheese, meat most people eat, and milk, bread, sugar, and salt.

Soooo, I learned how to eat from fasting. Nothing else worked. the problem is NOT fasting, or not learning anything.

There are chemicals, and if you fast when they come out your system needs to deal with it. They tend to want to come out when fasting. After day 3 you and anyone fasting on water vomits a bit. The juice fasting seems to avoid this but I don't like fasting on juice too much, just water. I like to bring the body to lose weight and burn my fat off. Carbohydrates can stop this.

Fasting on water is best done on alkaline water. Even cucumber juice would be nice. All alkaline, but don't eat anything that is notorious for food poisoning, like meat, eggs, milk, etc anytime during this alkalinity or you may not realize bacteria aren't killed. I don't know why, they say cancer doesn't grow in an alkaline environment but I'm pretty sure bacteria does and can hurt you quick. Best to have nothing but water and don't take the risk.

AFTER the fast I had on distilled water (the rave at the time) I got heartburn bad after I ate and had to use baking soda (it was all that was available at the time). So I got loaded up with salt.

I lost 2 lbs a day, after 11 days, I was 78 lbs. and I had to start eating again, I went on a butter binge. I was okay after a couple of weeks. I could not work hard for anyone while fasting. I had to find a place to stay in bed with other's on the same kick, where it worked out for us all.

It's best done with a group, that leaves each other alone. A peaceful quiet country home. Some people walk out and quit after they decide they are hungry and want to do something stupid like just eat a peanut butter sandwich.

If you have a professional that can check and balance your chemistry this is nice, but water alone is okay, if you are strong enough and can take the vomit that always happens after day 2 or 3 of a water fast you body balances it's own chemistry, especially

if you can listen to your own body signals and have access to the right stuff.

How do you do walking to lose weight?

Walking to lose weight is mild cardio exercise and very effective when done properly. For example, today go for a walk at the best pace you can manage until you are comfortably tired. Note how far you walked. The day after tomorrow, go for another walk but increase the distance slightly. Continue walking every other day until you are walking 4 miles.

Once you are able to do that, slightly increase your pace with each walk until you are walking those 4 miles in just under 1 hour every other day. This will burn many extra calories during and immediately after your walks. An alternative method that some people use when walking to lose weight is to buy a pedometer and build up to walking at least 10,000 steps daily. (Before altering your exercise habits, you may wish to obtain the blessing of your personal physician.

What are the best exercises for a young woman to get rippling abs?

Unlike most other muscles you can work out your abs everyday since they recover so fast. I would suggest the usual crunches but also incorporate planks, toe touches, and bicycle kicks. Another workout I like to do is sit on the ground with your knees up and feet off the ground balancing on your rear. Rotate your shoulders perpendicular to your hips and touch the ground on one side of your body with both hands. I like this exercise because you can do it without weights or with weights. And you can use almost anything as weights. Plates, milk jugs, medicine balls, dumb bells. Keep in mind that these exercises will build your abdominal muscles, but even in healthy people your abs are covered in usually a thick layer of skin and then some fat. This area is one of the last places you will lose fat so you may just need an intense cardio workout to cut out fat to expose the abs you may already have. Diet is very important if you really want your abs to pop too. This is why your soccer players and cross country players look like they have massive abs. They run non stop every day for practice and their body fat percentage goes way down and typically they naturally will have less body fat to compete at even high school levels. So try to run everyday, bicycle if you can't, get on a treadmill and then do your ab workouts. Eat healthy and remember that everyone's body is different and it takes everyone different amounts of time to lose weight. I have no doubt if you have the dedication to get washboard abs you can do it but keep in mind this is very very hard for a most people to achieve even though most athletes you see will have them, but that's because they work very very hard. As far as dieting goes there are so many diets that I will suggest you go out and find one for yourself, but when looking for one keep in mind you want a diet that will help you cut fat and build muscle, not lose weight, im assuming youre not going for the biggest loser. This means you need to get a lot of energy from your meals. Don't think "oh I'll just eat less" you will pass out in the middle of workouts, get migraines, and other aspect of your life ( sociol, school) will fall apart and your body may weigh less but won't be healthy. Good luck, this is a great goal go for it.
